For those familiar with the reviews books, it seems like in the 3rd edition that they took out the math drill facts that were on the back of the reviews pages of the 2nd edition. THat makes me want to order the 2nd edition instead, because I want ds to have regular fact practice. Anyone know why they took drilling out?? Is it somewhere else then??
I don't have any experience with the 2nd edition. I've only used the newer 3rd edition books for K, 1st, and 2nd. The math drill fact practice is incorporated into the lesson, usually on the backside of the worksheet. Also, with the newer editions, there is a CD rom included in the TM that you can print off math fact drill sheets (lots of them). And if you purchase the Reviews workbook for the 3rd edition, that go along with the student worktext, there is plenty of math fact practice in those lessons as well.
Thanks, I guess I assumed that there wasnt any because the samples at CBD of the 3rd review book didnt show any drill practice. He is doing CLE this year for 2nd and I am going to take a break from CLE for a year to do the mastery approach to get his 4 main functions down, then we'll go back to CLE in 4th. But, I didnt want to lose the great drilling practice that they do in CLE.

However, it takes us twice as long. He seems to dawdle more with this program than with BJU. We will finish up with the LU's that we have and I'm getting ready to purchase BJU math 3 for the fall. I got to see it at a homeschool convention, and it looks great.
I will still try to incorporate CLE math into our studies- on weekends and during summers. I really like the spiral review. But, I think my ds misses the 'color' of BJU math. He seems to be very bored with CLE. Johanna or othersI just wanted to jump in and chat a little about BJU Math 2 and 3. I have used both BJU 2 and CLE 2. I liked BJU because it was much easier for my child to 'get'.
But, I didn't like the fact that she was forgeting things from the past. I also at the time didn't know what was on the CD, as I never opened it cuz I thought I didn't really need it. Anyways, we used CLE 2 but it too ended up taking to long and I'm not sure my child really knew what they were doing. Plus, it brought alot of tears and frustration.
We've ditched CLE and was thinking of bringing back BJU. Can you explain how to use all the review stuff to me??
It looked like the page they would do in the review book matched the workbook page they did in class. Wouldn't we want other stuff from the past to work on??? What about the CD, how do I know what and when to print stuff? Any advice appreciated.
